The range

Three table sizes

The model number gives the table width in centimetres. Work from the largest part you need to hold on the chuck, not the average.

Some figures for this machine are confirmed against the specific model at order stage and are not published here. Ask for the full specification sheet and we will send it the same day.

How it is built

What holds the accuracy

Hydraulic table and cross feed

Longitudinal table movement and grinding head cross feed are both hydraulic with stepless speed regulation, so the finish is even rather than stepped. Cross feed can also be worked by hand for setting up.

Built-in motor spindle

The grinding head carries the motor inside it rather than driving through a belt. Compact, rigid, and it removes belt vibration from the finish.

Special spindle nose bearing

Plain bearing, conical outside and cylindrical inside, which holds accuracy far longer than a rolling bearing at this duty.

Ball screw vertical feed

Fine and sensitive on the down feed, which is what lets you take a last thou off without digging in.

PTFE lined slideways

The vertical and horizontal ways of the grinding head are lined with PTFE soft belt for wear resistance and smooth movement.

Quick lift on the head

A fast lifting motor raises and lowers the head between jobs instead of winding it by hand, which saves real time across a shift.

What it grinds

Typical work

  • Die blocks
  • Mould plates
  • Jigs and fixtures
  • Machine slideways
  • Punch and die sets
  • Magnetic steel
  • Auto components
  • Gauge blocks
  • Cast iron parts
  • Hardened steel

Works after heat treatment

Once a part is hardened the mill cannot touch it. Grinding is the only way to bring a hardened die back to flat and parallel.

Pairs with the tool room

A shop with a milling machine and a slotter but no surface grinder sends its hardened work out. This is the machine that closes that loop.

Optional accessories

Wheel dresser, demagnetiser, sine vice, angle plates and additional wheel grades, quoted with the machine.

Seen before it ships

You are welcome at Batala to see your machine running before dispatch, with a written inspection and dispatch certificate.

Delivered across India

We arrange transport from Batala to your site, so you are not chasing a transporter yourself.

One year warranty

Covered against technical fault for a full year from delivery, on every machine we supply.

Support that answers

Most questions are settled the same day over a video call with someone who knows the machine.

Freight and site visits are charged at actual. Installation is not included in the machine price and can be arranged on request.

Before you enquire

Surface grinder questions

What does the model number mean?
The last two digits are the table width in centimetres. An M7130 has a 300 mm table, an M7132 has 320 mm and an M7140 has 400 mm. Table length is usually 1000 mm on the smaller machines. Work from the largest job you need to hold on the chuck.
Why grind at all if the milling machine can face it?
Milling leaves tool marks and cannot hold flatness on a hardened part. Grinding takes a hardened die block or a fixture to a flat, parallel, mirror surface measured in microns. Any shop making dies, moulds or jigs needs one, because after heat treatment the mill cannot touch the part.
Does it come with a magnetic chuck?
Yes, an electromagnetic chuck is standard. It holds the work flat without clamps in the way of the wheel, which is the whole point of the machine.
What can it grind?
Hardened and unhardened steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and with the right wheel, glass and ceramics. Die blocks, mould plates, fixtures, magnetic steel and auto components are the usual work.
Is a CNC version available?
Yes. GSK, Siemens and Fanuc controls are available as an option on these machines. For a tool room doing repeat work it removes the operator from the cross feed entirely.
