The pair

Boring and honing

Two machines that do two halves of one job. Both are needed for a rebuild that lasts.

Some figures for this machine are confirmed against the specific model at order stage and are not published here. Ask for the full specification sheet and we will send it the same day.

Why rebuild pays

A rebore and hone costs a fraction of a replacement engine. On tractor, truck and commercial work that margin is the whole business.

Build the bay in order

Tell us what you already have and we will advise which machine to add next rather than selling you the list.

Seen before it ships

You are welcome at Batala to see your machine running before dispatch, with a written inspection and dispatch certificate.

Delivered across India

We arrange transport from Batala to your site, so you are not chasing a transporter yourself.

One year warranty

Covered against technical fault for a full year from delivery, on every machine we supply.

Support that answers

Most questions are settled the same day over a video call with someone who knows the machine.

Freight and site visits are charged at actual. Installation is not included in the machine price and can be arranged on request.

Engine machining questions

Why bore and hone rather than replace the block?
A new block or a new engine costs many times a rebore. Boring brings the cylinder back to round and straight at an oversize, honing puts the cross-hatch finish on it, and an oversize piston set completes the job. On tractor, truck and commercial engines that is standard practice, not a compromise.
What does honing do that boring does not?
Boring cuts the cylinder to size. Honing finishes the surface with a cross-hatch pattern that holds oil, so the rings bed in and seal instead of scuffing. An engine bored but not honed will burn oil.
Can one machine do both?
They are separate machines and both are needed for a proper rebuild. A shop starting out sometimes buys the borer first and hones by hand, but the finish is not consistent and it costs time on every cylinder.
What engines can it handle?
Car, tractor, truck, bus, generator and pump engines. Capacity depends on bore diameter and depth — tell us the largest block you work on.
What else do I need to set up?
A surfacing machine for the head face, a valve seat and valve refacing setup, and a crank grinder if you go that far. Tell us what you already have and we will advise on the order to buy in.
