What a good shear gives you

Four-edge blades

Each blade turns four times before regrinding, so consumable cost per cut stays low over the life of the machine.

Adjustable clearance

Blade gap set to the material thickness, which is what keeps the edge clean and stops burr and distortion on thin sheet.

Motorised back gauge

Set the strip width once and cut a run without measuring each piece. The single biggest time saving on production work.

Pairs with the press brake

Shear then bend. Most sheet metal shops buy both together, and we quote them as a pair.

Shearing machine buying questions

What thickness can I actually shear?

The rating is for mild steel. Harder material cuts thinner — stainless typically takes about a third off the rated capacity, so a 6 mm machine handles roughly 4 mm stainless. Tell us the grade you cut, not just the thickness.

Swing beam or guillotine?

Swing beam machines are simpler, cost less and cover most general fabrication up to 12 mm, which is why they are the standard workshop machine in India. Guillotine type gives a squarer edge on thick plate at higher cost. We supply swing beam as standard.

What length do I need?

You cannot cut longer than the machine, so work from the widest sheet you buy. Standard sheet is 1250 or 1500 mm wide, so a 2500 mm machine handles most shops. Take 3200 mm if you cut full length sheet across.

What is the back gauge for?

It sets the cut width and holds it, so a run of identical strips comes off the same size without marking each one. On production work it is the difference between a shift of cutting and a shift of measuring.

What safety is fitted?

Finger guards across the cutting line and a foot pedal with a guard as standard. Light curtains are available and worth having where the operator feeds by hand all day.
