16 Kg Pneumatic Forging Hammer

C41-16
The smallest machine in the range and the one most artisan smiths start with. It draws and shapes round steel up to 22 mm and square up to 20 mm, at 258 blows a minute. Runs on a 2 HP motor, so a single phase workshop supply is usually enough. At 240 kg it sits on a modest foundation and does not need a heavy pit.

20 Kg Air Hammer Machine

A step up in reach rather than speed. The 20 kg takes round steel to 35 mm and square to 30 mm on a 90 × 50 mm die, which covers most small agricultural tool work — sickles, hoes, blades and hand tools. 3 HP motor, 380 kg.

25 Kg Power Hammer

The size most general forging shops settle on. A 240 mm working height and a 100 × 50 mm die give room to work, and it handles round steel to 45 mm. If you are forging a mixed range of jobs rather than one repeated part, this is usually the right machine.

Production territory. Round steel to 68 mm and square to 52 mm at 0.53 kJ per blow, which is roughly double the 25 kg. Suited to shops running the same forging repeatedly, and to bolster die work where the blow has to land the same way every time. 5.5 HP motor, 880 kg.

55 Kg Air Forging Hammer

The heaviest in our standard range at 0.7 kJ per blow. Same forging capacity in section as the 40 kg but with more energy behind each strike, so heavy sections move in fewer blows and the operator works less. At 1,700 kg it wants a proper foundation. 7.5 HP motor.

Forging hammer buying questions

Do I need a separate air compressor?
No. These are self-contained. The machine carries its own compression cylinder alongside the working cylinder, so you connect power and it runs. This is the most common misunderstanding about air hammers — people budget for a compressor they do not need.
What size forging hammer do I need?
Work from the heaviest section you forge, not the lightest. A 25 kg hammer handles round steel to 45 mm and a 40 kg handles 68 mm. If most of your work is at the top of a machine's range, take the next size up — the hammer will last longer and the operator will finish jobs in fewer blows.
Air hammer or power hammer — what is the difference?
In Indian workshops the terms are used for the same machine. Pneumatic forging hammer, air hammer, power hammer and blacksmith hammer all describe this type. A mechanical or spring hammer is a different design and is not what we supply.
What foundation does it need?
A concrete foundation sized to the machine, with the anvil block seated properly. The smaller machines up to 25 kg need very little. The 55 kg at 1,700 kg needs a proper pit. We send the foundation drawing with the order.
Can I forge in dies?
Yes. All sizes take bolster dies for repeated shapes, in addition to open die work — drawing out, upsetting, punching, bending, twisting, forge welding and hot shearing.
Do you supply larger than 55 kg?
Yes. The series continues at 75 kg and 150 kg, and heavier machines are available to order. Tell us the section you forge and we will confirm the right size.
