4.5 Feet Lathe Machine

The smallest machine in the range, and the one that fits where floor space is tight. A 20 inch swing and 2 inch bore suit light job work, small repair shops, ITI workshops and training rooms. Full Norton gearbox, so threading capability is the same as the larger machines — only the capacity is smaller.

6 Feet Lathe Machine

The size most Indian workshops buy first, and the one we sell more of than any other. A 24 inch swing over a 14 inch bed handles the majority of general turning, and the 3 to 7 inch bore range covers most pipe and bar work. If you are unsure between this and 8 feet, the deciding question is the longest shaft you expect to turn in the next five years, not the next five months. 8 Feet Lathe Machine

Where 6 feet runs short. The step up brings a 28 inch swing, a 16 inch bed and bore to 10 inches, which is the point at which the machine stops being a general workshop lathe and starts handling production work. The sizes above are our standard models. Bed width is a separate choice, so a 12 foot machine can be built on anything from an 18 to a 32 inch bed. A wider bed on the same length gives a larger swing and a more rigid cut.

Lathe machine buying questions

What size lathe machine do I need?
Two numbers decide it. The longest job you will turn sets the bed length, and the largest diameter sets the swing. If you machine pipe or bar through the spindle, the bore matters as much as either. Send us those three figures and we will tell you the right model.
Belt drive or all geared — which is better?
Cone pulley belt drive is simpler, cheaper to buy, cheaper to repair and easier to get parts for anywhere in India, which is why it remains the standard workshop machine. All geared makes sense where speed changes are constant, or on heavy jobs where a belt would slip under torque. We supply both, so we have no reason to push you either way.
Is a Norton gearbox the same as all geared?
No, and it is a common mix-up. The Norton or semi-Norton gearbox is the quick-change box for threading pitches and feed rates. Whether the spindle is belt driven or geared is a separate matter. Our cone pulley machines are belt driven for spindle speed and carry a Norton box for threading.
What is swing over gap?
Swing over bed is the largest diameter that clears the bed ways along the full length. Swing in gap is the larger diameter you can turn immediately in front of the face plate once the gap piece is removed — useful for short, large diameter work like flanges and pulleys.
What is the price of a lathe machine?
Price depends on bed length, bed width, spindle bore and the accessories fitted. A 6 feet machine and a 16 feet machine are different products at different prices. Message the size you need on WhatsApp and you will have a figure the same working day.
Do you arrange transport?
Yes. We arrange transport from Batala to your site anywhere in India, and freight is charged to you at actual. You are welcome to arrange your own transporter instead if you prefer.
Do you install the machine?
Installation is not included in the machine price. Most workshops set these machines up themselves, as the levelling and foundation requirement is straightforward. If you want our man at site, that can be arranged at extra cost — tell us at the time of order.
What warranty do you give?
One year against any technical fault. Day to day support is over video call, which resolves most queries the same day. Where a site visit is needed, that is arranged at extra cost.
