Before you enquire

Pipe threading questions

What can it thread?
GI and MS pipe, scaffolding tube, bar and rod. The 50 mm machine covers up to two inch and the 65 mm up to two and a half, which between them handle almost all plumbing, scaffolding and structural pipe work.
Why a machine instead of hand dies?
Speed and consistency. A hand die on two inch GI pipe is heavy work and the thread comes out however the operator managed it. The machine cuts the same thread every time, which matters when the joint has to seal.
What is a self-opening die head?
It opens automatically at the end of the thread instead of needing the machine reversed off the work. It saves a few seconds on every piece, which on a scaffolding order of several hundred lengths is most of a shift.
50 mm or 65 mm?
Take the 65 mm if you thread scaffolding tube or larger structural pipe. The 50 mm suits plumbing and general fabrication. You cannot thread larger than the machine, so buy for the biggest pipe you expect, not the average.
Indian or imported machine?
These are the Punjab built machines — the Linco pattern that plumbing and scaffolding shops here have run for decades. Imported machines follow a different design and different die head standards, so chasers and spares are not interchangeable. The advantage of the Indian machine is that a fitter in any town can service it and chasers are available locally.
What supply does it need?
440 V three phase. The 65 mm machine runs a 3 HP motor.
