The range

Two models

Both are portable, servo driven on rotation and feed, and set up on the work itself. Each is supplied with two boring bars — 5 ft and 2.5 ft — which can be used separately or joined depending on how much room there is at the joint.

The other half of the repair

Bore welding attachment

Machining a worn bore true makes it round again, but it also makes it bigger. Bore welding builds the diameter back up first, so the joint returns to its original size and takes the original pin. The welder mounts on the same frame as the boring machine, so one setup does both jobs without moving the work.

Weld then bore, one setup

The welding head fits the boring frame. Build the bore up, swap heads, machine it true — without breaking the alignment you spent time setting.

Back to the original pin size

Boring alone leaves the bore round but oversize, so you fit a bush or an oversize pin. Welding first means the joint takes the pin it was built for.

MIG machine is separate

The attachment feeds and positions the wire; the welding power comes from a MIG machine, which we can supply at extra cost or you can use your own.

No dismantling

Servo on both axes

Rotation and feed are both servo driven and set from the control panel, so the cut starts gently and holds its rate through an interrupted bore.

Before you enquire

Line boring questions

Why bore on site instead of removing the part?
Because removing a boom, a bucket linkage or a crusher housing costs more in crane hire, transport and downtime than the repair itself. A portable line borer clamps to the work where it stands, so the machine goes to the job rather than the job coming to the machine.
What does line boring actually fix?
Worn pin bores. Over time a pin and its housing wear oval, the joint goes slack and the machine loses accuracy. The bore is machined true and oversize, a bush or weld build-up restores the diameter, and the joint is back to specification.
Can it weld as well as bore?
Yes, with the bore welding attachment, and this is usually the point of buying the machine. Boring alone makes a worn bore round but oversize, so you then need an oversize pin or a bush. Welding builds the diameter back first, so the joint returns to its original size and takes the original pin. The welder fits the same frame, so one setup does both.
Do I need the welder, or will boring alone do?
If you are happy to fit a bush or an oversize pin, boring alone is enough. If the pin size has to stay standard, or there is no room for a bush, you need the welder. Most workshops that buy the borer end up wanting both.
How is it powered and mounted?
Servo motors drive both the rotation and the feed, set from the control panel, and the bar is supported in spherical bearing plates clamped or tacked to the work. Setup and alignment is the skilled part of the job — the cut itself is straightforward once the bar runs true.
Which model do I need?
Both cover 55 to 220 mm as standard. The PARAS-50 has the heavier 3 kW motor and takes the facing tool, so it is the one for larger and harder work. For bores below 55 mm, add the 30 mm bar and accessories, which brings the minimum down to 35 mm. Above 220 mm, tell us the size and we will confirm.
What boring bars come with it?
Two as standard, in the bar diameter of that machine — the PARAS-45 comes with 45 mm bars and the PARAS-50 with 50 mm bars, each in 5 ft and 2.5 ft. The short bar is for tight joints where there is no room to pass a long bar through. A 30 mm bar in 5 ft is available separately for either machine, for bores down to 35 mm.
